questions you've asked -
CAN YOU DESIGN SOMETHING FOR ME, BUT THEN I GET IT TATTOOED BY SOMEONE ELSE ?
In short, no she doesn’t. Emily’s livelihood is to tattoo, her own artwork. So for her to design something and send it to you, would mean that she is essentially out of work, at her own doing. You will be able to source plenty of commission based artists that you can request a drawing from, be prepared to pay for it and be prepared for your tattoo artist to change it if they need to. Not every artist (who doesn't tattoo) knows what will translate to skin. This is only to be determined by your tattoo artist.
She does however accept business commission pieces, example of these business logo, shirt designs, banners etc etc. This is not free.
WHAT INK DO YOU USE, IS IT VEGAN?
She uses Dynamic black, to her knowledge and as far as she can research it is vegan.
If you find out that this is not correct, please contact her immediately !
I CAN'T FIND THE ADDRESS FOR THE STUDIO YOU WORK AT?
There is a reason for this, she only sends out the address once a deposit is secured.
Emily is located in a private studio, to offer an exclusive studio environment.
It is a safe space and they pride ourselves on making everyone feel at home and comfortable.
HOW MUCH IS A DEPOSIT AND WHY DO I HAVE TO I SEND IT?
DO I GET IT BACK IF I CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?
Deposits of $100 or $200 for a full day booking and an additional $50 drawing fee are required before an appointment is secured. A smaller amount for a deposit will be asked instead if the tattoos total is under $250.
The deposit is non-refundable, this can be discussed at Emily Weber’s discretion only. The deposit is security for me that you will show up for your appointment, if you decide to cancel your booking for whatever reason - Emily essentially loses more than you just not getting tattooed.
Whilst this might come across harsh or strict, it is not my intention - as Emily mentions it’s to provide herself security and to have some seriousness in holding appointments, in an industry that is notorious for being unpredictable.
DO YOU CHARGE HOURLY OR PER PIECE?
Emily charges per piece (not hourly) and per day, there is a lot of decision making that goes into quoting for a piece. Emily does not give out quotes publicly or outside her booking process.
My minimum is $180 and my max is currently $1200 (one day session, max 6 hours).
So for example, if your piece is a medium sized piece - it'll most likely be in the middle of that. But as I said, every quote is different and more than size goes into quoting the piece, but just to give you a rough idea.
If your tattoo exceeds 6 hours, $150 per hour after is added to the total.
However this can be waved pending on the day/at Emily’s discretion as well.
I EMAILED BUT I NEVER GOT A REPLY!
I'm so sorry about that, sometimes emails get lost!
Because she opens them up every few months, there's an influx of emails.
She tries to respond to everyone even when she can no longer fit another booking into her schedule, to let them know and suggest alternative artists. There is always the option to send through an enquiry via my cancellation list.
WHAT DAYS DO YOU WORK, I REALLY WANT TO GET IN ON A SATURDAY!
The days Emily works after Dustyn being born are yet to be decided, however Emily assumes she will continue having Friday and Saturdays off.
WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO I BRING TO MY APPOINTMENT?
CASH OR CARD?
She accepts both forms of payment!
Please always keep in mind that the quote given is a rough estimate and it is always advisable to bring extra as the price may vary. Cash is always preferred.
WILL YOU TATTOO OVER SCARS?
Emily personally covers up scars nearly every week!
There are definitely some scars that will handle being tattooed differently to others, especially if the skin is really thin or keloid.
She usually asks for a photo of the placement area before accepting.
If she doesn’t think the scars can be tattooed over, tattooing near them/in that area can still compliment the spot.
Best way to cover scars is when they are very very healed, when they are white in colour! (This colour is pending your skin tone as well, obviously)
DO YOU TATTOO ANYONE UNDER 18?
Nope! She doesn’t tattoo anyone under the age of 18.
Some tattooers accept a statutory declaration signed by a Justice of the peace and a parent to be present, although Emily doesn't.
Emily will however tattoo a client on their 18th birthday!
Proof of age is always requested at the booking.
DO YOU DO COVER UPS?
Nope, she doesn't!
She doesn't believe she can personally do justice to that idea due to her work being mostly transparent and she thinks it won’t allow her work to be at it’s best quality.
What are your options? Laser removal - this is costly but very much worth it.
A lot of tattooers will recommend this as it allows for so so many more options.
MJ Driver is whom she suggests.
