Frequently asked questions
studio info.
Atlantis Tattoo Studio is by appointment only and operates as a ‘private studio’.
This means if you do not have a booking with one of the artists,
you cannot enter the studio and you aren’t given the address.
This creates an exclusive and private tattooing experience.
The address is given to a client once an appointment date is secured with a deposit.
I will always send out the address prior to the date your appointment is.
We are newly located in Port Kembla, ten minutes south of Wollongong,
previously we have been located in Miranda and the Sutherland shire.
It is accessible with close public transfer and easy car parking near by.
Our studio is inclusive and I have never declined a client based on skin colour, cultural background, ability, beliefs, sexual orientation or gender. I will always welcome diversity within my clientele, if you do not feel represented in my social media - it is not with intention.
I value any trust given to me to be able to design and tattoo those who ask, eternally grateful.
pricing
I do not provide specific quotes outside of my booking process.
All tattoos are quoted by piece not by time.
A breakdown of pricing.
FULL DAY: $1450-$1650
I work at a base of $250-$300 an hour, but charge per piece instead -
as everyones skin, tattoo and tolerance aren’t the same & requires different time frames.
My standard full day is 5-6 hours, over time will be added to your quote if we go over this amount of time - an additional $150 per hour that we go over.
All quotes include the time we break (toilet/lunch/stretch) for during the session.
Quotes include tax and GST.
Deposits are between $100-$250.
All deposits come off the total amount asked in your quote - see T&Cs for more info about Deposits.
Quotes can vary pending on alterations on the day of your appointment.
I will be vocal before tattooing, if there is any increase to your quote.

booking in
My calendar opens up every 2-3 months to block out the following 2-3months.
A tab will become available at the time they open, the form will be available to enquire for roughly 48hrs before closing again.
I book by the seasons, calendar is now open for sept/oct/nov!
To be honest though, if you’d prefer to book further in advance,
I can probably make it happen. The months above are just my focus months.
See ‘current info’ tab for more information.
No booking is valid without a date offered and agreed upon with a deposit to secure it.
WHAT THE HECK IS A REFERENCE PICTURE?
This essentially is an image that inspires you and helps get across what you’re wanting to get tattooed by me - sometimes the image shows a placement you really like, the design you think is cool, the size of the tattoo etc etc .
References are great and only used as an inspiration tool, all of the tattoos I do are custom and specifically drawn by me for you.
no email back?
Be prepared, there’s a few answers.
Why on earth would I not respond, I promise I’m not an asshole who is avoiding you! Haha
I would not be able to respond to a tattoo enquiry for the following reasons -
I’m flat out, please leave a decent amount of space between enquiring and sending a check up email.
Also I’m in the process to see if I have ADHD, this means - I struggle with prioritising as everything is important all at once. You are important, I’m just making sure I can spend the right amount of focussed time responding to you.
OR perhaps my calendar is actually full, I can’t open conversations that may lead to disappointment when I confess I can’t fit you in my books! I will notify and close books when they are full or I am at capacity with requests.
My artistic preferences may not have lined up with your idea, this happens if I’m not taking on particular ideas, if I’m not a suited artist for, or if I got asked for something out of my styling
Luckily I haven’t had anyone offensive, racist, sexist or homophobic in my inbox - but it goes without saying that.. I’m not ya gal if you plan on being like that.
payment.
Payment for your tattoo is via bank transfer (osko or payid) or cash. No eftpos/credit for tattoo payments.
There is merchandise and aftercare available in the studio, this is through eftpos.
tattooing over scars.
I tattoo over scars, more frequently than you think!
Please never feel ashamed of speaking about your scars, I understand the sensitivities around this topic and the sensitivities with skin. There does need to be a period of healing before a tattoo can done over the area, for any tattoo. There are some scars where the skin will be different to tattoo for an artist where it is keloid or very thin, this doesn’t mean it can’t be done - I just have to be careful.
Allow around 1 year or more for your skin to do some healing, this is also pending on the scar.
There are unfortunately some scars that cannot be tattooed over, if there is a risk for the tattoo will damage the skin further or if I cannot do your idea justice in the placement - it’s not something we should do!
Some scars, due to the trauma within the layers of the skin are at risk of a ‘blow out’,
this means the ink can blur under the skin. I will be very honest prior to tattooing if I think any scars are more at risk of this than others.
If you do not want me to bring up your scars, when stencilling or tattooing - please mention this in your email. I will be respectful of any situation.
If comfortable during the emailing process, I usually ask for a photo of the placement the piece is going. This allows me to draw specifically for an individuals body shape and also allows me to see any potential scarring that may be something we need to discuss in terms of design any extra stress that could be caused to the area.
dESIGN BEFORE APPOINTMENT.
I do not send out designs prior to an appointment.
This is simply not something I cam comfortable with.
The only time a design for a tattoo is shown before a client comes into studio is either for an expo or if I have put an available piece up for grabs. After being burnt in the past, I made a decision a few years ago to make this a strict policy. I am sorry if this is something that doesn’t fit with your tattoo plan, perhaps I am not the artist for you.
Every client fills out a form before I offer a booking, this form asks for specific information around the idea for the tattoo. I rely on flexibility and trust to be able to portray my styling to the best of my ability. Asking for all information is so that we both understand what is asked and during the emailing process, we discuss if there is anything I cannot offer or design and any compromises can be made through email. I cannot however change my styling to suit an idea that a client brings forward.
coVER UPS / aDD ONS.
I do not take cover ups, as I don’t believe I can do my best quality of tattooing with this.
My style portrays parts of the piece where you can still see skin, making it not ideal for a cover up.
I also do not take on pieces that have been started by another artist, I am happy to work next to (ie sticker sleeve etc) but will not touch the existing tattoo with my own tattooing.
If I have previously tattooed you and you want the design extended, this may not always be possible.
As sometimes they look like an after thought/too much time has passed since the tattoo was first healed/the design is tapered to the initial style choice and there’s no room for an extension to work seamlessly.
Changes.
Changes to an idea before a tattoo appointment can definitely be discussed, I however reserve the right to cancel an appointment with deposit pending if time frame is within two weeks.
Changes to a design once drawn and shown to you in the studio, there is always a possibility to alter a design if you are not happy with it - we have a period of time prior to tattooing that is a consult, where I show the design based on what was asked for, we check placement, size and make any adjustments if needed or wanted.
However, I won’t compromise my quality of work or if the change would not make sense with the layout of the piece or placement. I will openly communicate any differing thought and you should definitely too! I would prefer the openness around a thought if something doesn’t feel right immediately, I want you to be stoked with your piece! It is your body!
If you have to change your idea to suit a changed budget, please note that your appointment may be changed to an alternative time or day as I book my calendar based on initial ideas.
All tattoos are booked in for a specific amount of time. However there is always time at the beginning of an appointment to make minor changes to the artwork, if a complete redraw is needed - there my have to be a reschedule or worst case a cancellation of the appointment (that’s never happened).
Tattoos are permanent, I shouldn’t have to say this. But I cannot remove a tattoo once it is done.
Adding onto exisiting tattoos is something I do not offer. I can compliment an existing piece by tattooing near to it, example: for a sleeve continuation.
alternative artist.
If you are coming to me, to finish another artists piece that’s been started
- unfortunately I don’t think I am comfortable doing this.
I also do not offer designing a tattoo for a client to take to another artist to complete.
If you send an enquiry and I don’t align with what is being asked for - I will suggest another artist.
Please understand that this could come down to that decision simply being based on that my tattooing ability may not being able to do your idea justice.
